How is a 3D USB flash drive made?

Custom 3D USB flash drives are unique products that require precise planning and production. The process can be broken down into several phases:

1. 3D model design and preparation – Starting from your image or design, designers prepare a digital 3D model. The model is modified until you approve it; it will serve as the basis for making the mold.

2. Mold making – A metal mold is machined and adapted to the desired 3D shape. It includes a space for the chip; mold making represents the highest initial cost.

3. Material preparation – The selected soft PVC is heated before injection molding to make it flexible and allow for uniform injection.

4. Injection molding – The heated mass is injected into the mold under pressure; the mold is closed, and the material fills the cavity. For multicolored designs, the color layers are injected sequentially.

5. Cooling and removal of the casing – After injection molding, the mold is cooled to harden the PVC, then opened and the rubber casing is carefully removed.

6. Inserting the USB module: A memory chip (PCB) is inserted into the casing; a connector and, if necessary, an LED indicator are added.

7. Assembly and testing: The keys are assembled and tested (capacity, speed, functionality) and inspected for defects.

8. Printing/logo: If desired, a logo, text, or graphic is printed on the rubber casing. The text can be printed; it does not need to be 3D embossed.

Ordering and customer collaboration
For optimal results, we work closely with the customer:

1. Inquiry – Send us an image of the desired design and indicate the quantity and capacity required. Based on this information, we will prepare a quote with an approximate price, delivery time, and minimum order.

2. Confirmation and Payment – ​​Once you’ve accepted the offer, you’ll make the payment. We’ll then prepare a digital 3D model and a graphic template; at this stage, you can suggest changes.

3. Sample Production – After the template is confirmed, the supplier produces the first piece, which you can review. Small details can still be adjusted.

4. Mass Production – After the sample is confirmed, the next batch is produced. During production, we ensure quality and meet the agreed-upon deadlines.

5. Delivery – The finished products are tested, packaged, and shipped to the agreed-upon address. Production and delivery times are generally 15-25 days from receipt of payment and template confirmation.
