Usb keys could be the most important photograher’s gadget – well at least right after the lenses! Most of the photos taken in the last decade are digital. The number of megapixels continues to rise and with it the size of photos as well. CDs and DVDs are particularly susceptible to damage from scratches and most of the computers don’t have a CD drive anymore. On the other hand they have numerous USB ports and so do many other devices.
Why is the USB flash drive a perfect gadget for any photographer?
1. A small item that guarantees big results
If you are a wedding, portrait or family photographer, you’re probably a “one man band” which means that the marketing part of your business depends on you as well. USB keys are a perfect promotional gadget that could make you stand out from the others. They are extremely useful but they also remind your clients of you and your work. They take the USB keys home and show photos to their friends and families. If the item is imprinted or engraved with your logo – well, it basically does all the promo work for you! A small item with a big capacity and a place in everyday life.
2. You can choose the capacity
One of the best features of the USB drive is that it comes in different capacities. This means that even if you have a new camera that makes big photos, you can still upload a lot of them on one usb key. We advise that you choose a smaller capacity for a one time project and a bigger one for the clients that would like to have different projects on one USB drive: for example, the wedding photos, maternity photos and family photos. It goes without saying that you can upload or delete the photos as you like.
3. You get a lot for a relatively small price
USB drives are a fairly cheap gadget but extremely useful. Apart from that,it is a beautiful promotional item that can be personalized with your logo. And if you decide to add a nice packaging, it becomes perfect for family or wedding photography. And it is also a lot cheaper than making photo albums or developing all the photos.
4. Safer than CDs
USB drives are a lot less sensitive when it comes to mechanical damages compared to CDs and DVDs. Most of them have the memory chip integrated in some kind of a casing (wooden, metal, plastic or PVC) which makes it difficult for it to get damaged. Even more so if you choose a model with a cap. 5. Formal but still personal
It happens often that the photographers are unsure whether to use a cloud storage for their clients. That is however not the best of options: the cloud is not always safe, while the USB drive can be phisically separated from the computer. In addition to this, we must always consider the fact that not all clients are used to using this kind of apps but they still want access to the photos as soon as possible. USB flash drive is the solution: It has been in use for a long time now and the clients are used to it. And given that they get a ’’physical’’ object makes the whole transaction much more personal that sending an e-mail with a link.
For wedding and family photos our clients usually opt for the wooden models, such as Eco wood. It is a particulary charming gift once engraved. For more formal photos we suggest the USB card, that looks like a business card and you can imprint it as you like, on both sides and on the whole surface.
Photographers usually don’t order big quantities that’s why we suggest you take a look at the models in stock in our warehouse. The minimum quantity is 20 pieces and the models are in different colours and go from 2GB to 64GB. If you would need a bigger quantity... well then there are almost no limits to what you can get!
